Beginning Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2026, and continuing through Labor Day Weekend ending on Monday, Sept. 7, the Maui Police Department’s Traffic Division will participate in the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement campaign.

Police say officers will take a zero-tolerance approach to impaired driving to reduce motor vehicle crashes and promote roadway safety.

The public is urged to plan safe transportation, designate sober drivers, or utilize car services to ensure everyone reaches their destination safely.

Police urge the public: “If you see an impaired driver on the road, call the Maui Police Department to report it. You could save a life.”

Department officials say, “Don’t let friends or family members drive under the influence. If you know someone who is about to drive while impaired, be a true friend and take their keys. Help them make other arrangements to get to where they are going safely.”
