Director of Philanthropy for Maui Health Foundation to speak at Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset

The Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset welcomes Leana Taylor, Director of Philanthropy for Maui Health Foundation on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026. The topic of her presentation will be “Food Is Medicine: Locally Grown, Physician Prescribed.”

Maui Health is helping to meet preventive care needs by partnering with Living Pono, University of Hawai’i Maui College, and Mauiola Pharmacy to prescribe locally grown food alongside clinical monitoring and education — addressing nutrition as a fundamental determinant of health for the Maui community. Taylor will explain the program’s key components.

Taylor was born at Maui Memorial Medical Center and raised on the south side of Maui until the age of 10, when her family relocated to California. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from Iowa State University and a master’s degree in Kinesiology from California State University, Fresno, before beginning her career in sports medicine as an Athletic Trainer at the University of Southern California.  

She later transitioned into a successful 20-year career in medical device education and sales, a role that brought her and her family back home to Maui as she served healthcare providers throughout Hawaiʻi.

Taylor then joined the Maui Health Foundation, a role she described as “a full circle moment.” Today, she has the privilege of serving the very hospital where she was born, helping connect the generosity of the community with meaningful investments that improve healthcare for the people of Maui and Lānaʻi. 

The meeting will be held at the YMCA West Side Resource Center, located in the old Tamura’s building in Emerald Plaza. The address is 226 Kupuohi Street, Lahaina. The social period will begin at 5 p.m.; light snacks are available for purchase.
