Mayor Bissen’s Holomua Kākou visit to Lānaʻi rescheduled for Oct. 27-28

Mayor Richard Bissen’s Holomua Kākou is returning to Lānaʻi on Tuesday, Oct. 27, and Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026. The previously scheduled event was postponed due to severe weather forecasts.
Since launching in early 2023, Holomua Kākou has brought County of Maui government directly to rural communities, providing residents with opportunities to engage with the Mayor and County departments, share concerns, ask questions and strengthen connections with local leadership.
“Mayor Bissen and Your Team in Your Town” events will be held on Lānaʻi on Tuesday, Oct. 27, and Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026. County Office of the Mayor staff will be available to answer questions and provide assistance from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days at the ILWU Union Hall, 840 Ilima Ave., Lānaʻi City.
On Tuesday evening, Mayor Bissen will host a community budget meeting from 5 to 6 p.m., where residents can share their needs and provide input on priorities as County departments prepare next year’s budget. A community talk story will follow from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at ILWU Union Hall.
On Tuesday, Oct. 27, the Office of the Mayor will host a grant writing workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. at the ILWU Union Hall. The workshop will be facilitated by County Office of the Mayor Chief of Staff Cynthia Lallo and Budget Director Lesley Milner and will focus on general grant writing skills. They also will be available to answer questions related to the County’s grants process.
For more information, Lānaʻi residents may contact the County Office of the Mayor at 808-270-7855 or email public.affairs@mauicounty.gov.
Holomua Kākou is planned for East Maui from Nov. 12-13, 2026.
