Mayor Bissen’s Holomua Kākou visit to East Maui rescheduled for Nov. 12-13

Mayor Richard Bissen will bring Holomua Kākou back to East Maui on Thursday, Nov. 12, and Friday, Nov.13, 2026. The previously scheduled event was postponed due to severe weather forecasts.
Since launching in early 2023, Holomua Kākou has brought County of Maui government directly to rural communities, providing residents with opportunities to engage with the Mayor and County departments, share concerns, ask questions and strengthen connections with local leadership.
“Mayor Bissen and Your Team in Your Town” events will be held in East Maui on Thursday, Nov. 12, and Friday, Nov. 13, 2026. County Office of the Mayor staff will be available to answer questions and provide assistance from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days at Helene Hall Community Center, 174 Keawa Pl., Hāna.
On Thursday evening, Mayor Bissen will host a community budget meeting from 5 to 6 p.m. at Helene Hall, where residents can share their needs and provide input on priorities as County departments prepare next year’s budget. A community talk story will follow from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
On Thursday, Nov. 12, the County Office of the Mayor will host a grant writing workshop on general grant writing skills from 1 to 3 p.m. at Helene Hall. The workshop will be facilitated by Office of the Mayor Chief of Staff Cynthia Lallo and Budget Director Lesley Milner. They will be available to answer questions related to the County’s grant processes.
