MAUI ISLAND ROAD ADVISORIES FOR THE WEEK ENDING JULY 10 2009
There are several ongoing roadway projects being conducted by the state this week.
HANA HWY ROCKFALL MITIGATION FORCES 4-HOUR WEEKDAY CLOSURES: In east Maui, Rockfall mitigation continues on the Hana Highway through Friday, July 17th. Work between mile markers 19 and 21 will result in the complete closure of the Hana Highway on weekdays between 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Earlier this morning, traffic was being alternated in the area of Hana Elementary School because tree branches were on electrical lines and were creating a hazard.
PIILANI HIGHWAY PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE CONTINUES: In South Maui, work continues on the Piilani Highway between Uwapo road and Lipoa Parkway for pavement marking and sign installations. The work will result in alternating one and two lane closures in both directions between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily, through Friday, July 10, 2009.
LAHAINALUNA ROAD DETOUR CONTINUES: In Lahaina, detours remain in effect for travel along Lahainaluna Road between Kelawea Street and Ikena Avenue for ongoing realignment efforts. During the closure, there will be no access between Ikena Avenue and Lahainaluna Road. Detours will be in effect.
PUUNENE AVENUE SIDEWALK INSTALLATIONS: In Kahului, sidewalk installation work continues along Puunene Avenue in the Kihei bound direction. Maui motorists are advised of a right lane closure on Puunene Avenue between Kaahumanu Avenue and Kuihelani Highway in the Kihei-bound direction, between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily through Friday, July 10, 2009.
Motorists are advised to use caution while driving through the work areas and to allow for extra travel time. All roadwork is weather-permitting.
