3.5 Hawai’i Island Earthquake, No Tsunami

There was no tsunami threat following a 3.5 magnitude earthquake reported at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2012 on Hawai’i Island.

The earthquake was located: 11 miles N of Pahala, HI; 16 miles WSW of Volcano, HI; 22 miles NNE of Naalehu, HI; 34 miles SW of Hilo, HI; and 203 miles SE of Honolulu, HI.

The US Geological Survey, Hawaiian Volcano Observatory Hawaii National Park, recorded the data, reporting the earthquake to be at a depth of 0.3 miles.

No tsunami was generated.
