Nisei Vets Honored with Rock Feature at Maui Park

Nisei Veterans on Maui will be honored next weekend with the dedication of a rock feature at the Kepaniwai Park in ‘Iao Valley.

The event, hosted by the Japanese Cultural Society of Maui and Maui’s Sons and Daughters of the Nisei Veterans, is planned to honor the Nisei Veterans who fought to protect freedoms.

The dedication event will be followed by the screening of the film, “Go For Broke—Memories of Hawaii Japanese Nisei,” produced by Hiroyuki Matsumoto, who will also be in attendance.

There are 10 Maui Nisei Veterans that are included in the 98 minute video.

The screening will be held at the Kahului Hongwanji Temple, at a cost of $20, which includes lunch. Net proceeds will be donated to the Kansha Preeschool.

The dedication and screening will both be held on July 14, 2012, with the dedication set to start at 10 a.m., and the screening to start at 11 a.m.
