Six mariners were rescued from a capsized canoe approximately three miles of the coast of Barbers Point on O’ahu over the weekend.

The incident was reported at around 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Coast Guard crews were alerted to the situation via cell phone as the individuals clung onto the canoe until help arrived.

The Honolulu Fire Department was able to obtain a GPS position off of the incoming call and directed responding coast guard crews to the location.

No one was injured and all six individuals were picked up by a cutter crew and returned to the Ko’olina Marina.
