The non-profit Maui Friends of the Library has opened the organization’s third used bookstore at the Queen Kaahumanu Shopping Center near Sears.
Fatburger opened a new branch of this national burger chain in the Pukalani Shopping Center on Monday, July 2, at the old Kentucky Fried Chicken location.
The Fairmont Kea Lani has named Anthony Duggan as their new director of operations.
Terro Marino has joined the Whale Trust as director of development and outreach after eight years serving as executive director of Habitat for Humanity in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Lester T. Nakamoto has been promoted from assistant vice president and branch manager to vice president and branch manager in the Hawaii Branch Division. He is responsible for overseeing sales and operations of the Kihei Branch and representing Bank of Hawaii in the south Maui area.

RevoluSun has named Troy Roble as the director of sales on Maui.
The Frances A. Buese Fund, along with Maui Memorial Medical Center (MMMC) Foundation funds, sponsored five days of classes held at the MMMC in June. Nearly 200 nurses were able to attend workshops from the nationally known clinical nurse specialist and education consultant Carol Rauen on topics such as the unique needs of the elderly, pharmacology, laboratory values, and a certified critical care registered nurse review course. Frances A. Buese was a nurse at MMMC for 28 years.
MMMC Foundation Executive Director Lisa Varde was recently named one of Hawaii’s “Top 40 Under 40” by Pacific Business News. The awards recognize Hawaii’s best and brightest young business professionals.

The 47th annual Maui Economic Opportunity, Inc. (MEO) board of directors installed officers at a luncheon held on Thursday, June 28, at MEO Family Center: Lyn McNeff, MEO chief executive officer, Scott Okada, board president; Kai Pelayo, vice-president; May Fujiwara, secretary/treasurer; and outgoing president Scott Sakakihara.
Kihei Elementary School and Kihei Charter School will each receive a $2000 grant from the Whole Kids Foundation, a non-profit created by Whole Foods Market, to expand upon or create community or school gardens.
