Puukolii Brush Fire Burns 30 Acres

Firefighters on Maui continue to battle a large brush fire at Puukolii in West Maui.
The fire was first reported at around 3:57 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, 2012.
At around 8:30 p.m., the fire had burned about 30 acres and was 50% contained, according to Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga.
Approximately 42 fire fighters remained on scene, working from the ground.
Fire officials say the flames got as close to 50 feet to the nearest town homes.
Firefighters say they have not yet determined a cause of the blaze.
No injuries or damages were reported.
Crews responding to the scene included: Engine-3, Ladder-3, Tanker-3, Engine-11, Battalion Chief-6, and the department’s Air-1 helicopter.
