An afternoon accident in Waikapu on Maui was the result of a collision between a vehicle and a street sweeper.
Medics transported a 57-year-old woman to the hospital in stable condition after responding to the scene at 1:34 p.m., said Maui Paramedics Association spokesperson Ryan Joslin.
Upon arrival, medics found a silver sedan vehicle that had crashed into a street sweeper about a quarter mile south of the Kahili Golf Course on the Honoapiilani Highway.
According to medics, reports stated that the woman was driving the sedan and swerved to avoid a crash into the back of the street sweeper, which was traveling around 5-10 mph.
The sedan sustained major damage and the driver was transported to the hospital with chest injuries, Joslin said.
The driver of the street sweeper received no apparent injuries, according to officials.

The partial closure is due to a motor vehicle accident.
