Augie T’s Summer of LOL Tour: It’s Final Fling Time

Two years ago, Hawaii’s popular comedian, actor, and radio personality Augie T (The “T” stands for Tulba) gathered Hawaii’s legends of comedy on stage together for the first time as da Ali’i’s of Comedy. The “royal” all-stars have been touring all summer, and the “Summer of LOL” tour will soon be having its final fling.
When he isn’t touring with Augie T, Frank De Lima, 14-time Na Hoku Hanohano award winner regularly visits schools to advocate a drug-free lifestyle. His work with elementary and middle school-aged children has him fully on board with the tour’s family-friendly mandate.
70-year-old Mel Cabang, the oldest member of the group, was once known for routines peppered with sexual content and profanity. However, in tune with this tour, those days are long gone: Summer of LOL Final Fling attendees don’t have to worry about bringing the kids.
Andy Bumatai, who originated stand-up comedy in local form in the 1970s, has had a long and successful career. Along the way, he has opened for a number of recognizable names such as Tom Jones, Kenny Loggins, Lionel Richie and The Beach Boys.
Augie T is known for his quick wit: he once explained that a Filipino would win “Survivor” because “Filipinos eat anything.” He was voted the funniest comic in Hawaii by Star Bulletin and Midweek.
Catch these four funnymen and enjoy some great local-style comedy on Friday, September 28th at 7:30 p.m. at the McCoy Studio Theater. Tickets are $30 or $40 with a meet-and-greet (plus applicable fees).
