UPDATE: Vehicle Catches Fire at UHMC

Maui firefighters responded to a vehicle fire reported at 11:42 a.m. the University of Hawaii Maui College campus in Kahului.
When Engine 1 from Wailuku arrived on scene, firefighters found a 2010 Camaro with its engine compartment fully involved.
The fire was called under control at 11:48 a.m., and extinguished at 12:09 p.m.
Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga said, “A male was driving on Ka’ahumanu Avenue when he noticed his engine overheating. He then pulled into the parking lot of the college when his engine caught on fire.”
No injuries were reported, and damage estimates were not available.

Firefighters and police responded to a report of a vehicle fire on the grounds of the University of Hawai’i Maui College campus in Kahului this afternoon.
The incident was reported shortly before noon on Monday, September 17, 2012 on the entrance road that leads to the Science Building parking lot.
Bystanders said it appeared as if the engine of the car exploded; but we have yet to receive confirmation of the cause. A white Camaro two-door vehicle sustained front end damage in the incident and was towed away at around 12:15 p.m.
