Ocean Safety Officers aboard a rescue craft assisted a visiting couple who was reportedly adrift on an inflatable raft off of Haycraft Beach Park in Ma’alaea on Saturday afternoon.

The incident was reported at 1:20 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2012, by beach goers in the area.

Crews responding to the incident located the couple about two miles off shore, said Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga.

The couple was assisted to shore and required no medical attention, said Mainaga.

Crews responding to the scene included Ocean Safety Rescue Craft 6, and the Maui Fire Department’s Engine 10, Rescue 10, Air 1, Life Guard 10, and Jet Ski 6.
