2 Arrested in Kihei Terroristic Threatening Incident

Maui police arrested two men on allegations of terroristic threatening after a confrontation in South Maui on Thursday.

The incident was reported at 10:38 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012 at a Waipuilani Road residence in Kihei.

During the incident, Bronson Foster, 21, of Kihei was arrested on suspicion of terroristic threatening and third degree criminal property damage, with bail set at $1,200. Another defendant, Namon Parks, 31, of Waianae was arrested on suspicion of first degree terroristic threatening charges, with bail set at $1,000. Both men were released after posting bail.

According to police reports, Foster was observed allegedly using a bat to smash the windows of a Toyota 4-Runner SUV at the property, owned by another 21-year-old man.

Police say Parks allegedly brandished a handgun during the incident, when the 49-year-old mother of the man who owns the SUV, approached the defendants.

Police say both Foster and Parks fled the scene, and allegedly abandoned a vehicle near a home on Kapuhau Street. According to police reports, witnesses tell police that the two men then fled on foot, and allegedly observed the handgun being thrown into the brush of an adjoining property.

Police pursued the two on foot, and apprehended the defendants a short distance away from the scene at the Maui Schooner Resort.

Police say the incident allegedly stemmed from a physical confrontation at a bar in Kihei on Oct. 31, 2012, between the woman’s 21-year-old son and a 19-year-old friend of the defendants.
