Large pieces of lumber are being used to brace what’s left of a rock wall that collapsed at the Maui Memorial Cemetery in Wailuku on Friday.

The rock slide forced the closure of Waiinu Road on the south side of the cemetery for about six hours as county crews worked to clear the roadway of debris.

Maui police closed the Waiinu Road from Waiale Road to Maui Lani Parkway from 5:35  to 11:42 p.m. on Friday, December 28.

The roadway was cleared of debris, the area was coned off, and tarps were placed over a portion of the collapsed area above the roadway.
