Paia has been named one of the “Top Ten Happiest Seaside Towns in America” by Coastal Living Magazine and the County of Maui today encouraged the public to vote in the contest to determine the top spot.

The towns were selected through nominations, and finalists were determined through a poll by the magazine’s editors on who had the best “coastal vibe.”

The public is encouraged to vote for Paia on the web at www.coastalliving.com/happytowns2013. Voting will continue until Feb. 28th when the winner will be selected. Votes can be cast hourly, every day.

“Maui keeps getting recognized and we couldn’t be happier about it,” said Mayor Alan Arakawa, in a written statement. “We’ve gotten awards for having the best island, historic streets and now the happiest seaside town. Let’s grab that #1 spot by rallying family and friends to vote for Paia Town.”

Results will appear in Coastal Magazine’s June 2013 issue (on sale May 17). The towns will be ranked from No.1 to 10, and each will be featured as part of the magazine’s cover story, “America’s Happiest Seaside Towns.”
