The non-profit group, Friends of Haleakalā National Park, hosts a service trip for enthusiastic hikers this weekend.

The two-night service trip runs from Saturday, Jan. 19 to Monday Jan. 21.

Volunteers will hike into the crater and say at the Paliku Cabin, where they will work on native plant protection, and the preservation of the park’s native habitat.

More information on the service trip is available online at fhnp.org.  Reservations can be made by calling the service trip leader at 264-4757.
