Parking Fees at Māʻalaea Small Boat Harbor to Start Aug. 3
Metered parking begins at the Māʻalaea Small Boat Harbor on Maui on Monday, August 3, 2015. Under the new structure, vendor Diamond Parking will install parking meters, collect fees ($0.50 per hour, $12.00 per 24 hour period) for all parking stalls in the harbor and pay for necessary infrastructure upgrades related to vehicle parking.

Matson to Pay $15.4 Million in Molasses Spill Settlement
The State of Hawaiʻi has reached a $15.4 million settlement with Matson Navigation Company over the September 2013 molasses spill that dumped some 233,000 gallons into Honolulu Harbor, killing fish and damaging coral at the site.

Action Deferred on Proposed Kauaula Transient Camp
The Maui Planning Commission on Tuesday voted to defer action for 60 days on a conditional permit for the proposed Kauaula Transient campsite in West Maui. Among the issues raised against the project were potential fire threats from campers using barbeque grills or camping burners, traffic impacts, security issues, protection of archaeological sites and the proposed commercial element of the project.
