Lahaina Cannery invites residents and visitors to celebrate Hawaiian culture at its annual Keiki Hula Festival on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This free community event showcases the beauty of hula, music, cultural traditions, and local artisans in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere.

Maui’s Eden Keolani Stewart was crowned Mrs. Hawaiʻi America 2026 on July 2, earning the opportunity to represent Hawaiʻi on the national stage during a milestone year that celebrates the 50th anniversary of Mrs. America and 35 years of pageant leadership by Mrs. Hawaiʻi America State Director Luana Alapa.

Through a special invitation from the creative team behind Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Hisako Film Lab students traveled from Maui to Los Angeles on July 14 to participate in the film’s Creator x Filmmaker Experience at The Lighthouse in Venice Beach, California.

The beloved Emma Farden Sharpe Hula Festival returns to Lahaina at the beautifully reimagined Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows on Aug. 21–22, 2026. This free, family-friendly celebration of hula and Hawaiian culture features hālau hula from across Maui, cultural workshops, keiki activities, Hawai‘i-made artisans, and live Hawaiian music, all set against the breathtaking backdrop of Kāʻanapali Beach.

The acclaimed Maui Jazz & Blues Festival returns to The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua from Aug. 31 through Sept. 6, 2026, bringing together Grammy Award-winning artists, jazz legends, blues icons, and celebrated local musicians for a week-long celebration of music, culture, and community.

Married Maui boat captains Chrissy Lovitt and Emma Nelson, who used their vessel to pull fire survivors from the water during the Aug. 8, 2023, Lahaina wildfire, are being featured as contestants on NBC’s game show “The Wall,” where they will share their story with a national audience while competing for a cash prize of up to $12 million.

A full week of Native Hawaiian culture, conversation, music and community begins today at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center with the 25th annual Native Hawaiian Convention, July 20–22, followed immediately by the Queen Liliʻuokalani Keiki Hula Competition & Festival, July 23–25.
