The ʻukulele collective Lōkahi is hosting its Hoʻolōkahi Lyrics Writing Challenge, a statewide songwriting competition for students, now through March 15. In response to public interest, the Lahaina Restoration Foundation will continue to screen E Hoʻi Ka Nani I Mokuʻula (Let the Glory Return to Mokuʻula) monthly at The Sphere at Maui Ocean Center in Wailuku throughout 2025. The next monthly screening of the film will take place on Feb. 14 at 6 p.m.

New Kūihelani sound wall mural highlights Maui moʻolelo

A new mural on the Kūihelani Highway sound wall in Puʻunēnē was created by two Maui artists in collaboration with the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation, Highways Maui District. Titled “Moʻolelo O Maui,” the 60’ wide x 9’ high artwork depicts the beloved story of Maui the demigod harnessing the sun.
Kalani Peʻa wins 4th Grammy in Regional Roots category

Maui resident Kalani Pe‘a won his fourth Grammy for his latest album “Kuini,” in the Best Regional Roots Music Album category. The win is his fourth to date after previous wins in 2017 for his debut album “E Walea,” 2019 for his sophomore album “No ʻAneʻi,” and 2022 for his junior album “Kau Ka Peʻa.”
