The University of Hawai’i announced Tuesday it has canceled its planned Aug. 18 Stevie Wonder benefit concert at the Stan Sheriff Center because it was not authorized by the star to hold the event.

University of Hawai’i supporters will have a unique opportunity to help the Athletics Department and experience the excitement of a rare Hawai’i performance by the legendary Stevie Wonder when he performs on Saturday, Aug. 18 at the Stan Sheriff Center.

There are plenty of opportunities to see Maui’s clear night sky come ablaze with colorful firework displays and more this US Independence Day.

The event, titled “Maui Pride,” begins at 6:15 p.m. on July 6, featuring entertainment by Na Hoku Hanohano award winner Willie K., who will rock Market Street with a live concert.

A large crowd of Lana’i’s visitors and residents came to Lana’i City’s Dole Park on Saturday, June 30, in the spirit of the island’s historic pineapple plantation era.
