This Thursday, Aug. 29 David Crosby and Graham Nash will be performing at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Castle Theater as a benefit for Ruth’s Ride.

The former members of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young are two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees (for bands Crosby, Stills & Nash and The Byrds/The Hollies, respectively). Their ’70s hits include “Long Time Gone,” ”Just a Song Before I Go,” “Our House,” and “Teach Your Children.”

Now that you have “Our House” stuck in your head and probably will for the remainder of the afternoon, you might be excited to learn that special guest Jackson Browne was recently added to the bill.

Also a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Browne has written and performed a number of other ’70s hits himself. You may remember him from such tunes as “The Pretender,” “Running on Empty,” “Doctor My Eyes,” “Take It Easy” and “Somebody’s Baby.”

Dammit!

Now “Doctor My Eyes” is on a continuous loop despite not really knowing the words.

Hopefully you’re faring better.

Maui resident and former bus driver for Crosby, Stills & Nash, Bob Benavides’ daughter Ruth is globally delayed, non-verbal and cannot walk on her own. She is 10-years-old, lives with her father, and attends Kula Elementary School.

Crosby, Nash and Browne will be performing Thursday to raise funds to help purchase a wheelchair-accessible van for Benavides.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Castle Theater, but concert-goers are encouraged to come beginning at 5:30 p.m. as there will be a pre-show performance in the Yokouchi Courtyard and Pavilion by Gail Swanson and John Cruz.

A variety of beverages and coffee drinks will be available, as well as dinner and dessert selections from Three’s Bar & Grill.
