The County of Maui Mayor’s Office of Economic Development today announced its free workshops for the month of October. Workshops are presented at the Maui County Business Resource Center.

Starting today, Maui County residents and businesses will now be required to register their alarm systems. For residential alarms, the initial registration cost is $25 with a $25 renewal fee every two years. Failure to register is a $50 fine. For business alarms, the initial registration cost is $50 with a $50 renewal fee every two years. Failure to register is a $100 fine.

So far in 2016, Hawaii Energy reports it has saved customers in Hawaiʻi, Honolulu and Maui Counties more than $21 million on electric bills.

Experts from the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Washington, D.C. will be on Maui to present an “Intellectual Property Boot Camp” at the Maui Research & Technology Center in Kīhei on Oct. 4, 2016, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A Hawaiʻi Virtual Reality Experience debuts this week at the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority conference. Marketing executives say the experience will serve as an educational tool for travelers, and help inspire the future booking of vacations.
