For Baldwin High School’s Pasoni Tasini, every school day ends with practice.

Seven Maui United Soccer Club players sign on National Letter of Intent (NLI) day, the first day high school recruits can officially sign to attend college.

Despite only having 39 days to recruit, University of Hawai’i head football coach Norm Chow managed to grab three of the state’s top high school players as part of the Warriors’ 2012 recruiting class.

Baldwin got a pair of goals from Mattias Thompson en route to a 4-0 dismantling of the Lunas before an estimated crowd of 800 Tuesday night at Keopuolani Park.

Baldwin posted its ninth straight win, clinching the Maui Interscholastic League Division I regular-season title and an automatic berth to the state tournament.

The third annual Maui Football Combine 2012 is scheduled for Friday, June 15, at Lahainaluna High School Stadium.

Baldwin High School’s Mattias Thompson returned to the boys soccer starting lineup Friday and made an immediate impact by scoring both his team’s goals in the Bears’ 2-0 win over King Kekaulike at Keopuolani Park.

Sparked by the return of senior captains Zane Johnson and Jeremiah Ostrowski, the University of Hawai’i men’s basketball team upset New Mexico State, 91-87.

University of Hawaii head football coach Norm Chow made it very clear when he was hired in December that job salary had “nothing to do with” his return to the 50th state. The main motivation, he said, was “the chance to come home.”
