There is a reason the Maui Interscholastic League has never seen a 23-foot long jump — until Friday.

The King Kekaulike High School athletic department is inviting the public to attend its Na Ali’i Sports Series 2013.

Sophomore sprinter Dylan Leigh powered the Baldwin High School boys to eclipse the 200-point total en route to winning the Maui Interscholastic League Junior Varsity Track and Field Championships, Friday, April 19, at the Satoki Yamamoto Track & Field Facility.

Tyler Feiteira and Amber Kozaki solidified their respective place in history Saturday, with wins in the boys and girls pole vault at the 2013 Punahou Relays.

Defined as a work in progress at the start of the season, the Baldwin High School boys volleyball team enjoyed a breakout performance Friday, clinching the 2013 Maui Interscholastic League regular-season title and state Division I tournament berth.

Another chapter was added to the dramatic Division I softball series between Lahainaluna and Baldwin high schools.

Three players from the girls volleyball team signed letters of intent, as well as three of the school’s football players. “They’re not only leaders on the court, they are leaders on the campus as well,” said Spencer.

A pair of teenage boys from Valley Isle Gymnastics men’s competitive team earned multiple gold medals at the Hawaii State Championships gymnastics meet Sunday, March 17, on Oahu.
