Kihei boy stable following shark attack at Ledges Surf Spot
A 15-year-old Kihei boy was injured in an apparent shark attack at the “Ledges” surf spot on Maui Sunday afternoon.
Kihei Flooding prompts Evacuation preparations on Maui
Heavy flooding forced the closure of a portion of South Kihei Road and the establishment of an emergency shelter in South Maui overnight. Maui Police closed South Kiehi Road between Kaonoulu Street and Ohukai Road at 12:55 a.m.

Rain Record Set in Kahului
The National Weather Service recorded a record rainfall of 1.17 inches in Kahului on Wednesday. That breaks the old record of 0.41 inches set in 1955.
Heavy Rains may Increase Sharks Risks Near Shore
The state Department of Land and Natural Resources says the recent heavy rains, along with forecasts for more rain in the coming week, may increase the presence of sharks in near-shore waters.
Flood Advisory issued for Maui until 4:45 p.m. 12/22/10
A FLOOD ADVISORY is now in effect for the island of Maui until 4:45 p.m. Forecasters with the National Weather Service say radar showed heavy rain near Makawao, or about 13 miles east of Kahului. The area of rain was nearly stationary.
Flood Advisory for Maui through 6:30 pm Tuesday 12/21/10
At 3:18 p.m., radar showed heavy rain over the eastern and southern slopes of Haleakala. Rain extended from Hana to Ulupalakua and Kula and was nearly stationary.
