UH Vaccine Mandate On Pause; Survey Indicates 90% Vaccinated
More than 92% of University of Hawaiʻi students and 95% of UH employees of the 10-campus system have been vaccinated for the COVID-19 virus or plan to be, according to surveys administered in late June. In response, all 10 UH campuses will see dramatic increases in in-person instruction and on-campus activities this fall, with no restrictions on enrollment for the unvaccinated.

AAA Hawaiʻi: Pace of Gas Prices Increases Picks Up

Navy to Reexamine Effects of Pacific Training Exercises on Whales
The US Navy announced this week that it will reevaluate the impacts of its testing and training exercises on endangered whales off Southern California and Hawaiʻi. The move comes in response to a notice of intent to sue from the Center for Biological Diversity, filed after two dead fin whales were found on the hull of a military destroyer in San Diego in May.

Kahului DMVL Open Two More Saturdays, July 17 and July 31
The County of Maui Division of Motor Vehicles and Licensing will offer driver’s licensing and other DMVL services by appointment on two additional Saturdays, July 17 and July 31, from 8 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Maui County Service Center office in Kahului. The service assists customers who have found it difficult to visit DMVL offices during normal weekday hours.

Governor David Ige provided formal notification today that the eviction moratorium in Hawaiʻi will end when it expires on Aug. 6, 2021. The eviction moratorium has been in place since April 17, 2020.
