“Aloha mai. My name is Manuwai Peters and I am running for the Maui County Council Molokai seat. My father was born and raised in Wailuku, Maui; and my mother was born in Kalamaula, Molokai.”

“Aloha. I’m Representative Gil Keith-Agaran, and I’m running for re-election to the Central Maui House seat. I’ve been your representative now for four years, since 2009. I’ve served on all three of the major committees in the House.”

“Aloha. I’m Roz Baker, candidate for State Senate 6 District. It’s been my privilege to represent the people of South and West Maui, as your state senator for the past 10 years.”

The filing for the Sixth Senatorial District officially kicks off Baker’s campaign as she seeks to continue representing the South and West Maui area.

The Office of Elections issued a reminder to individuals who want to run for office, that the candidate filing deadline for the 2012 election cycle is Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 4:30 p.m.

State Senate candidate, Barbara Haliniak, will host a campaign event on Friday, June 15, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. at the Hana Bay Pavilion in East Maui.

The 2012 election season in Hawaii officially gets underway on Wednesday, February 1, with the commencement of the candidate filing period. Until the state legislative reapportionment plan is complete, individuals may begin filings for only: county, Office of Hawaii Affairs and federal seats.
