Maui 2015 State of the County Address: Complete Text

The address highlights the County’s achievements in 2014, as well as plans for the coming year. The mayor also discusses challenges facing the County of Maui.

Mayor to Present State of the County Address, March 10

Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa will deliver his 2015 State of the County Address on Tuesday, March 10, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the McCoy Studio Theater at Maui Arts and Cultural Center.

Arakawa’s 2014 State of the County Address

“Our community is in a better place than when we first began this journey,” said Mayor Arakawa, who highlighted the county’s 4.6% unemployment rate–the lowest its been since 2008.

During his inaugural address in January, Arakawa said he would be looking at opening concessions at county parks, aggressively pursuing government grants and becoming a leader in the field of agricultural technology.
