Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa is expected to deliver his State of the County Address for his new term this Friday, February 25, 2011.

During his inaugural address in January, Arakawa said he would be looking at opening concessions at county parks, aggressively pursuing government grants and becoming a leader in the field of agricultural technology. One of the bigger announcements his inauguration, was news of county discussions with one of the leading forces in Hollywood to potentially establish a major motion picture studio on Maui.

Upon taking office, Arakawa had also expressed interest in bringing an early end to the one-day-per-month county furloughs imposed by the previous administration. At the time, he had projected $60 million in carryover savings before the end of the fiscal year in June.
