The collision occurred as a red 2014 Ford four door sedan, operated by a 53 year old female from San Mateo, California, was traveling northbound on S. Kīhei Road when she struck a 44 year old male from Wailea, who was walking southbound towards traffic within the northbound lane of the roadway.

The pedestrian, a 41-year-old man with no local address, was not in a crosswalk at the time of the collision and was transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical, life-threatening condition where he later succumbed to his injuries.

On Friday, Jan. 15, 2016 at approximately 9:24 p.m., a Motor Vehicle Collision occurred at Dairy Road (fronting Maui Market Place) and 115 feet south of Ohekani Street in Kahului. The collision occurred as a pickup truck, traveling north on Dairy Road, collided into a pedestrian crossing westbound on Dairy Road.

A 23-year-old Kīhei woman suffered fatal injuries in a motor vehicle accident on the Lahaina bypass early Saturday morning. Police say she was a passenger in the single-vehicle collision. The male driver was arrested.
