Costliest repairs to Lahaina Harbor still ahead as dredging gets underway

More than $20 million worth of projects are left to be completed at the harbor, including work on the piers and dinghy dock that cost $8 million and are expected to start this year.

Lahaina Small Boat Harbor dredging starts June 1 

Regular maintenance dredging of the Lahaina Small Boat Harbor begins on Monday, June 1. All dredged material will be disposed at the landfill, due to the potential presence of debris from the 2023 wildfires in the sediment.

Contract finally awarded to dredge volcanic debris that left Pohoiki Boat Ramp landlocked in 2018

The state Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation awarded a $9.2 million contract to dredge Pohoiki Bay to Goodfellows Bros., the lowest bidder on the project.

Barge operator to pay $1.1 million for damaging 15,000 corals in Honolulu Harbor

In May 2021, while dredging Honolulu Harbor, the anchors and cables of a barge operated by Healy Tibbitts Builders broke or damaged more than 15,000 corals and 140 square yards of live rock.

State to Dredge Kīhei Boat Ramp

A project to dredge the entrance of the Kīhei Boat Ramp is scheduled to begin on July 1 and has an estimated completion date of November 4.
