Under the program, the Hawaiian Humane Society’s Foster Care team trained Johnston and Paulich, both minimum custody inmates, on how to tend to the orphaned kittens to help them thrive. In turn, the inmates developed useful skills to help them prepare for successful reintegration into the community upon their release. 

The Aloha Ladies℠ Social Club presents “Jingle & Mingle,” a holiday fundraiser to support foster keiki and families on Maui, Sunday Dec. 11, from 3 to 6:30 p.m. at the Ocean Vodka Organic Farm and Distillery.

The Maui Humane Society hosts its first public adoption event in over a year and a half on Saturday, Sept. 18, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Organization leaders say the event is organized to address the overwhelming number of pets (almost 500) that are currently at the shelter and in foster care.

Hawaiʻi nonprofit Partners in Development Foundation’s Hui Hoʻomalu Foster Care Services program celebrates National Foster Care Awareness Month in May with the success story of the Pagay ʻohana, who have fostered 15 children since 2015, adopted one child, and have three of their own children.
