#Hawaiian Canoe

Students, teachers, and families are invited to Lā ʻOhana (ʻOhana Day) this Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024, at Hanakaʻōʻō Beach Park (Canoe Beach) in Kāʻanapali, the Maui Huliau Foundation announced. The event will focus on Hawaiian voyaging and natural resource protection.

The Polynesian Voyaging Society announced that the Moananuiākea Voyage’s circumnavigation of the Pacific Ocean has been rescheduled to the spring of 2023 due to the continuing uncertainties caused by the global pandemic. 

The 13th annual Wa‘a Kiakahi will grace Kā‘anapali’s shores from June 2 to 4, welcoming 10 six-member crews with traditional sailing canoes from all islands.

Hawaiʻi’s iconic voyaging canoe, the Hōkūleʻa arrived at Salem’s historic waterfront. Mayor Kim Driscoll presented the crew with the official city seal.

Maui’s Cassy Isagawa won the Junior PGA championship on the third hole of a sudden death playoff in Fort Wayne, Ind.
