The average price in Kahului is $4.49, which is two cents lower than last week and 25 cents lower than a year ago.

Hawaiʻi gas prices moved down slightly in most areas as Independence Day travelers get ready for their holiday getaways,  according to the AAA Hawaiʻi Weekend Gas Watch. The statewide average price for regular unleaded is $4.71, which is one cent lower than last week. The national average gas price is $3.50, which is five cents higher than last week. 

AAA Hawaiʻi predicts 20.5 million residents of Hawaiʻi, Alaska, California, Oregon and Washington will travel during the year-end holiday period this year between Dec. 23, 2023 and Jan. 1, 2024.

AAA Hawaiʻi reports that a record number of residents in Pacific states are expected to travel for Thanksgiving, projecting 9.9 million travelers.
