Maui County Courts to Close Due to Projected Severe Weather
State courthouses and judiciary offices in Maui County will be closing at 12 p.m. (noon) on Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, due to severe weather conditions being projected by the National Weather Service.
Big Island Public Schools to Close Wednesday and Thursday due to Madeline
The Hawaiʻi State Department of Education plans to close public schools on Hawaiʻi Island on Wednesday, Aug. 31 and Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016 as Hurricane Madeline continues its path towards Hawaiʻi. Closures are being made in anticipation of severe weather.
Haleakalā Backcountry Closed Sunday Due to Hurricane Ignacio
The backcountry area of Haleakalā National Park on Maui will be closed on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2015 due to potential impacts associated with Hurricane Ignacio. The rest of the park remains open, including visitor centers. The park is also open for sunrise viewing.
