#Iao Valley State Park

The Maui Fire Department is on scene of a small brush fire in the area of ʻĪao Valley State Park. The department’s Air 1 helicopter is set to make water drops. The fire was first reported at around 4 p.m. As of 5 p.m., there were no evacuation orders or major road closures in effect. Residents and visitors in the area should stay alert.  Updates will be provided if the situation escalates. 

ʻĪao Valley State Monument will be closed from Aug. 1, 2022 to Jan. 14, 2023 for the final phase of a slope stabilization project and parking lot improvements.

A 35-year-old Maui man found unresponsive in a stream at ʻĪao Valley State Park on Monday, Aug. 9, 2021, has died.

ʻĪao Valley State Park remains closed this morning as crews continue cleanup of downed trees blocking both lanes above Kepaniwai Park.

Koenigs was last seen on Saturday, March 5, 2106 at around 2 p.m. at ʻĪao State Park in Wailuku.

ʻĪao Valley State Monument on Maui will be closed from Jan. 11-22, 2016 for various park improvements, including closures of the two large capacity cesspools in the park that were mandated via a consent agreement with the Environmental Protection Agency.

ʻĪao Valley State Monument on Maui is closed today due to flash flooding concerns. State officials with the Department of Land and Natural Resources issued the advisory this morning saying an update on park reopening will be issued once State Parks staff have been able to assess conditions within the park.

Maui projects in the funding release include: beach restoration in Kāʻanapali; rockfall and flood mitigation at ʻĪao Valley State Park; repair and improvement projects at Mākena State Park in South Maui; and design and construction funds for improvements at Kaunakakai, Lahaina and Mānele Small Boat Harbors in Maui County.

The state reopened the Makawao and Kula forest reserves on Maui, including Polipoli Springs State Park on Monday following inclement conditions associated with the remnants of Tropical Storm Wali.
