Crews battling small fire at ʻĪao Valley State Park

The Maui Fire Department is on scene of a small brush fire in the area of ʻĪao Valley State Park. The department’s Air 1 helicopter is set to make water drops. The fire was first reported at around 4 p.m. As of 5 p.m., there were no evacuation orders or major road closures in effect. Residents and visitors in the area should stay alert.  Updates will be provided if the situation escalates. 

5 month closure ahead for ʻĪao Valley slope stabilization, parking lot improvements

ʻĪao Valley State Monument will be closed from Aug. 1, 2022 to Jan. 14, 2023 for the final phase of a slope stabilization project and parking lot improvements.

ʻĪao Valley State Monument Closed Due to Flash Flooding

ʻĪao Valley State Monument on Maui is closed today due to flash flooding concerns. State officials with the Department of Land and Natural Resources issued the advisory this morning saying an update on park reopening will be issued once State Parks staff have been able to assess conditions within the park.
