Kaiser Permanente Hawaiʻi announced it will partner with Maui Health to open a new Lahaina Clinic to serve as a lasting home for care in West Maui and support the community’s continued recovery and future health care needs.

Kaiser Permanente buys 6-acre site currently occupied by The Maui News in Wailuku

Kaiser Foundation Health Plan has reached agreement with Maui Island Holdings, LLC to purchase the 6.28-acre site currently occupied by The Maui News, located adjacent to the Kaiser Permanente Wailuku Medical Office and northwest of Maui Memorial Medical Center (which is operated by Kaiser Foundation Hospitals subsidiary Maui Health).

Kaiser Permanente awards grants supporting access to youth and family services across Hawaiʻi

Kaiser Permanente Hawaiʻi has awarded grants totaling $275,000 to three local nonprofits to help fund their support of vulnerable youth and families throughout Hawaiʻi. Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies received a $75,000 grant award, Boys & Girls Club of Hawaiʻi received $50,000, and Boys & Girls Clubs of Maui, Inc. received $150,000.

New Kaiser Permanente Lahaina Clinic officially opens with Hoʻōla event in Kāʻanapali

The Kaiser Permanente Lahaina Clinic sign was all that was left standing after the Aug. 8 wildfire swept through historic Lahaina town and leveled the Waineʻe Street clinic where doctors and nurses cared for patients’ colds and flu, broken bones and expectant moms since opening its doors in 1969. And, so a 7.5-foot woven lei was a fitting way to connect the past, present and future at Kaiser’s official Hoʻōla (meaning to rejuvenate, to give life and energy, to heal) event Tuesday at the clinic’s new 5,200-square-foot location at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort in Kāʻanapali.

Local Health Care Safety Net Organizations to Receive $400,000 in Grant Funding

Kaiser Permanente launched its Safety Net Vaccine Equity Initiative which provides funding to health care safety net organizations working to increase COVID-19 vaccinations for communities disproportionately affected by the pandemic. Five Federally Qualified Health Centers in Hawaiʻi will receive a total of $400,000 to use over six months to help patients access COVID-19 vaccines.
