Hāna Highway at Kālepa Point is closed to traffic on weekdays (M-F) between mile markers 38 and 39 while Kālepa Rockfall Netting Replacement project work is conducted. Work takes place Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and is anticipated to last five months.

The Piʻilani Highway in East Maui near Kālepa is now re-opened following a landslide that closed the roadway during heavy rains last week.

The Department of Public Works would like to remind all residents and visitors that Pi‘ilani Highway near Kalepa Point is closed due to safety reasons.

The meeting will include presentations on 4 upcoming repair projects affecting roads in southeast Maui, that will result in varying degrees of road closures.

Maui police have closed the highway at Mile 39 in East Maui due to a “large sink hole,” which has made the road impassable on the Kaupo side of Alalele Bridge.
