ʻAha Niu Festival on Maui celebrates community, culture, and coconut stewardship
The community is invited to ʻAha Niu: Maui Nui Coconut Celebration Festival on June 13, 2026 at the Maui Nui Botanical Gardens. The free event celebrates niu (coconut) as a vital cultural resource and quintessential Oceanic staple crop. The day features hands-on workshops, demonstrations, and the giveaway of over 150 coconut sprouts for families to take home and plant.
Hawai‘i Children’s Action Network to honor Champions for Children, Sept. 13
Hawai’i Children’s Action Network (HCAN), the only nonprofit organization in Hawai‘i solely dedicated to advocating for children, will honor the 2025 Champions for Children at The Pacific Club in downtown Honolulu on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Ola Ka ʻĪ event celebrates Hawaiian Language Month on Maui
A hui of Hawaiian organizations led by the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College, Kanaeokana, Kamehameha Schools Kaiāulu and others hosted Ola ka ʻĪ Maui Nui at Queen Kaʻahumanu Center on Saturday, Feb. 17. The event was the third Ola Ka ʻĪ in a series of Hawaiian language fairs happening throughout Hawaiʻi in February, Mahina ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian Language Month).
