Two Endangered Nēnē Killed This Week on Maui, Struck by Cars Near Kahului Airport
A bonded pair of nēnē, a male and female, were struck and killed by cars on A‘alele Street near the Kahului Airport on Tuesday afternoon.
County to Restrict Overnight Access to Kanahā Park Starting Nov. 1
Newly installed gates on the west side of the park on Amala Place, and at Kaʻa Street, will be locked overnight. This means that all vehicles must be removed from the park before closing, otherwise vehicles will be towed.
Overnight Camping Suspended at Kanahā During Clean-Up
Issues include weekly police reports involving drunken and disorderly conduct, drug offenses, assaults and unsafe and unsanitary conditions for overnight use.

Kanahā Park Campgrounds to Close for Repairs, Cleaning
The Maui Department of Parks and Recreation’s Central Maui District will be closing the 12 campground areas at Kanahā Beach Park in Central Maui for cleaning and repairs starting on Monday, June 8, 2014. County officials say they anticipate reopening the area on Wednesday, June 24, 2015.
