$30K settlement reached for boat grounding at Maui’s Honolua-Mokulē‘ia Bay
The Hawai‘i Board of Land and Natural Resources on Friday unanimously approved a proposed $30,448.67 settlement agreement with Kapalua Kai Sailing, Inc., for the grounding of its vessel, Hula Girl, inside Maui’s Honolua-Mokulē‘ia Bay Marine Life Conservation District, on Jan. 31, 2025.
Grounded sailboat removed from Honolua Bay on Maui
The 65-foot catamaran Hula Girl that was grounded at Maui’s Honolua-Mokulē‘ia Marine Life Conservation District for almost two months, has been removed. Salvage plans underway for grounded sailboat at Honolua, Maui
DOBOR and DAR have approved the owner’s salvage plan, which aims for a Feb. 12-17 removal timeframe. However, the owner is having difficulty in identifying and hiring a salvage company to remove the vessel because a number of companies have already indicated they are not available or are not willing to take on the project.
