Lava from the Kīlauea volcano reached the ocean early Tuesday morning for the first time since 2013. The ocean entry was made at 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday.

Lava Enters Ocean from Puʻu ʻŌʻō

A lava flow from the Kīlauea Volcano’s Puʻu ʻŌʻō vent entered the ocean at around 1 p.m. on Saturday. The activity came a day after a small earthquake, measuring 4.3 occurred at the Lōʻihi Seamount.
