Mayor Arakawa plans for a conscious shift away from traditional power consumption. He said he is on a mission to get to 100 percent reuse.

In a move toward a lighter carbon footprint, the County of Maui wants to turn the methane gas it generates at the Central Maui Landfill into electricity. The project could generate enough electricity to power approximately 500 homes.
