From story to public art: Introducing the 2025 cohort of Hui Mo‘olelo

The sixth Hui Mo‘olelo cohort has completed a weeklong storytelling training designed to preserve local voices and inspire public art projects on Maui.

‘Big Hearts’ book will represent Hawai‘i at 2025 National Book Festival

The Hawai‘i Center for the Book has selected “Big Hearts on a Little Island: The Maui Community’s Heroic Response to the 2023 Wildfires” as the “Great Reads from Great Places” adult title to represent the state of Hawai‘i at the 2025 Library of Congress National Book Festival.

‘Ulu‘ulu is digitizing 2,000 PBS Hawai‘i films as part of national archive project

‘Ulu‘ulu, Hawai‘i’s official state archive for moving images, is coordinating the digitization and description of 2,000 films and videotapes from the PBS Hawai‘i collection, a project expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Maui’s W.S. Merwin Poet Laureate named Poet Laureate
