Three More O‘ahu Coronavirus Cases Brings Hawai‘i Total to 638

The Hawaiʻi State Department of Health reports that there were 563 individuals released from isolation; and 81 cases (13%) that have required hospitalization. A total of 577 patients (90%) were residents. Maui County’s count remains unchanged from yesterday. Of the 117 cases in Maui County, at least 92 have been released from isolation, and 22 have required hospitalization. As of today, there were more than 38,881 individuals tested by clinical and state laboratories.  Of that number, 38,243 were returned negative. In Maui County, a total of 6,858 tests were returned negative to date.  There were 33 tests returned on Maui since yesterday.

LIVE STREAM: Governor Extends 14-Day Travel Quarantine and Stay-at-Home Order to May 31st

Gov. Ige has extended the 14-day mandatory travel quarantine for people arriving in the state and the stay-at-home order until May 31, 2020.  The proclamation also notes that people can now run or walk on state beaches for exercise.

LIVE STREAM: Hawai‘i Needs 14-Day Downward Trajectory in New Cases Before Phased Reopening of Economy

Governor David Ige said that while the number of new cases is promising, the state does not yet qualify for the President’s phased in reopening of the economy. He said Hawaiʻi would need a downward trajectory in cases for a 14-day period.

Moloka‘i and Lāna‘i COVID-19 Update for Residents to be Live Streamed Friday

The County of Maui will be providing COVID-19 updates to Molokaʻi and Lānaʻi residents on Friday via a live stream on Akakū Maui Community Television, Channel 53 and the County of Maui Facebook page. The stream has been rescheduled to 2 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2020.
