Registration for the county’s emergency notification program tripled over a five day period as a second storm system forms in the Pacific Ocean. The 2015 Maui County Disaster Preparedness Expo will take place on Saturday, June 6, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m at the Queen Kaʻahumanu Center.

The County of Maui launched a new Makaʻala emergency alert system ahead of the 2015 Pacific Hurricane Season, which officially kicked off with the formation of Tropical Storm Andres off the Coast of Mexico this week.

The current closure began today and will remain in effect through Monday. During this time, work will take place between sunrise and sunset, but the closure will remain in effect around the clock.
