Firefighters on-scene continue to reinforce containment lines. As of 5 p.m., the evacuation order was lifted and residents were free to return home.

Pukalani Brush Fire Comes Within 20 Feet of Homes

Upon arrival, crews reported about a half acre of brush actively burning on the north slope of the gulch adjacent to ʻĀina Lani Drive.  Authorities say the fire was within 20 feet of area homes.

12,442 Acres Burned on Maui So Far in 2016

Since the beginning of 2016, Maui County experienced brush fires almost every month, resulting in road closures, heavy traffic, and thousands of acres burned.
