Maui community rallies for emergency dune restoration at Baldwin Beach

Over the summer, the ocean claimed a popular pavilion at Baldwin Beach. A group of volunteers led by the Sea Grant and Surfrider Foundation have begun restoration efforts at the former site to re-naturalize the shoreline and establish sand dunes.

The state is proposing a shoreline stabilization project to prevent further erosion from adversely affecting the structural integrity of Kahului Beach Road in Central Maui.
