2016 Maui Outstanding Older Americans Announced

Maui County’s 48th Annual Outstanding Older Americans for 2016 are John Tryggestad and Kathleen Phillips.

Nominations Sought for 2016 Maui Outstanding Older American Awards

Last year’s awardees were Donald Jensen of Kīhei and Katsuko Enoki of Pukalani. To date, 50 older adult volunteers have been recognized for their outstanding contributions to Maui County.

Enoki and Jensen Honored with 2015 Maui Older American Awards

Enoki, who received the women’s award is a retired public health nurse; and Jensen who received the men’s award, is a part of the Maui Police Auxiliary’s Citizen’s Patrol.

The county established the awards in 1968 to celebrate the contributions and achievements of older residents, with the first honoree being Wendell Crockett.
